UPDATE: RED AND YELLOW POTATOES

February 5, 2026

Markon First Crop (MFC) Red and Yellow Potatoes are available in Idaho, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.  Southern Florida escaped major damage, while Northern Florida is replanting approximately 10-15% of crops destroyed by freezing temperatures. Expect limited supplies in April during the transition from Southern to Northern Florida.

Southern Florida

  • Damage in the southern part of the state was scattered and minimal
  • Reduced yields are expected in certain lots; most crops matured enough to avoid major damage
  • Overall quality and volume remain strong; supplies are expected to ship through April
  • Initial markets will rise slightly, then peak in late March-early April

Northern Florida

  • Extremely low temperatures were experienced in Northern Florida
  • Early emerging plants suffered significant damage, leading to replanting
  • Harvesting is expected to shift from mid-April to early May
  • Expect elevated pricing as growers transition to North Florida

Idaho, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Colorado, Washington

  • MFC Red and Yellow Potatoes are available in Idaho and North Dakota
  • MFC Red Potatoes are available in Wisconsin
    • Reds will ship through mid-February
    • The yellow season has ended
  • Demand is strong in all areas due to delayed harvesting in Florida
  • Large-size reds (Premium and A size) are most plentiful; markets are climbing for B size red prices in most regions
  • Quality is very good; color is exceptional for red potatoes in North Dakota
