UPDATE: GREEN LEAF, ICEBERG, AND ROMAINE

April 13, 2026

Iceberg and romaine prices are rising as growers complete the semi-annual harvesting transition from  the Arizona-California desert region to Salinas and Santa Maria, California.

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine Lettuces are available; Markon Best Available (MBA) is being substituted as needed
  • The Arizona-California desert season has concluded
    • All head lettuce is now shipping out of the Salinas Valley
    • Recent warm weather matured heads earlier than expected in Huron, Salinas, and Santa Maria, creating a supply-exceeds-demand market
    • Quality ranges from fair to good
      • Varying weights and densities are being reported
      • Wet weather has elevated potential quality challenges
  • The Florida iceberg season has concluded
  • Mexican stocks are steadily crossing into South Texas
  • California’s Huron season is winding down; all suppliers will move to Salinas by month’s end
  • Salinas and Santa Maria Valley’s production numbers will continue rising through the next several weeks
  • Elevated prices and limited supplies are forecast until Salinas and Santa Maria harvesting is fully underway (typically early May)
