FROM THE FIELDS: CILANTRO

January 8, 2026

Cilantro supplies from both the Oxnard, California and the Arizona/California desert growing region are experiencing quality and shelf-life challenges. Both regions have been hit with multiple rain events and high winds throughout the months of November and December. Another round of light showers is passing through the desert region yesterday, January 7 and today January 8; both cilantro growing areas, Oxnard, California and the Arizona-California desert areas could see freezing temperatures by this weekend.

Current challenges in cilantro packs include:

  • Bacterial leaf spotting
  • Bruising/wilting
  • Early breakdown/shortened shelf-life
  • Wind burn
  • Yellowing/brown discoloration

Markon inspectors will continue monitoring quality and are working with suppliers to secure the best product available for Markon orders. Ordering for quick turns is recommended.
