Tomato markets have eased as multiple growing regions have begun summer production. The Central Florida season is ending, but suppliers are transitioning to South Carolina, the Florida Panhandle, and South Georgia. Expect volume to climb in Mexico and California through June.

Rounds

  • East Coast
    • Central Florida production will end this week
    • South Carolina, the Florida Panhandle, and South Georgia are in full production
    • Quality is very good
    • Tennessee and Virginia harvests will start in early July
    • Markets will remain steady over the next few weeks
  • Mexico
    • Baja new crop supplies are meeting demand; quality is very good
    • Limited quantities are shipping from Central Mexico into South Texas
  • California
    • The San Joaquin Valley season has started; yields will increase through June

Romas

  • East Coast
    • The Central Florida season is ending
    • South Carolina, the Florida Panhandle, and South Georgia are in full production
    • Quality is very good
    • Tennessee and Virginia harvests will begin in early July
    • Expect lower prices in the coming weeks
  • Mexico
    • New crop stocks are increasing in Central Mexico
    • The Baja season is underway
      • Quality is very good
      • Large sizes are most prevalent
  • California
    • Production is expected to start in the next 7-10 days
    • Prices are low

Grape and Cherry

  • East Coast
    • The Central Florida season has ended
    • Ample supplies are shipping from South Carolina, the Florida Panhandle, and South Georgia
    • Quality is good
    • Tennessee and Virginia harvests will start in late June
    • Markets are easing
  • Mexico
    • Volume is high in Baja; quality is very good
    • The Western Mexico season is wrapping up
      • Volume is low
      • Quality is average
    • Expect low prices next week
