UPDATE SUMMARY: WEEK OF MAY 20, 2024

May 23, 2024

Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine

Iceberg markets remain elevated. Green leaf and romaine markets continue to decline.

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) Premium Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine are available; Markon Best Available (MBA) is being substituted as needed due to low weights
  • Iceberg quality and weights have been challenged over the last week due to inconsistent weather and disease pressure; additionally, planting gaps caused by early spring rains exacerbated the supply situation
  • The extended quality outlook for all lettuce crops through June is optimistic with favorable temperatures and no rain forecast
  • Iceberg markets are expected to remain elevated for the next 7-10 days, at minimum, until supplies increase
  • Green leaf and romaine markets continue to decline as quality improves and supplies increase
