The strawberry market is steady. Santa Maria and Watsonville, California are experiencing great weather. Both areas are past peak season causing numbers to trend downward. Watsonville/Salinas growers will begin another cycle of new crop harvesting before Santa Maria begins its fall season in late August or early September.
Santa Maria, California

- Size ranges from 20-25 berries per 8/1-pound clamshell and 32-40 in 4/2-pound pack (small to medium)
- Occasional overripening and a few white shoulders are being reported
- Expect markets to remain steady
Salinas/Watsonville, California
- MFC Strawberries are available
- Quality is good; expect full color and sweet flavor
- Size is currently 18-22 berries per 8/1-pound clamshell and 36-44 in 4/2-pound pack (medium to large)
- Bruising, white shoulders, and light mildew are being reported
- Crews are doing a great job packing the best berries
- Expect active prices for the week
