Markon First Crop (MFC) Red and Yellow Potatoes are available in Idaho and North Dakota. Overall markets are trending higher, driven by strong demand for Red B grades and all yellow sizes. Demand is strengthening as supplies wind down rapidly in Southern Florida and the Northern Florida season faces delays following January freeze.
Idaho
- MFC Red and Yellow Potatoes are available
- Red storage supplies are ample, but yellow stocks are limited
- Overall quality is very good
- Reds are exhibiting excellent skin color
- Some late-season storage issues are being reported in certain yellow potato lots (pressure bruising, lenticels)
- Expect rising prices for:
- Red Bs
- All yellows
North Dakota
- MFC Red and Yellow Potatoes are available
- Reds are plentiful, but yellow stocks are much tighter
- Quality remains very good; reds are exhibiting dark color and minimal blemishes
- Strong demand from the East Coast is pushing prices higher
Colorado
- Large size A reds and yellows are abundant; B and C sizes are snug
- Quality is very good; red color is light pink
- Demand is rising; markets are up
Washington
- Red and yellow yields are average
- Red potato quality is very good; occasional lenticels are being reported in yellows
- Pricing is steady, but poised to rise as demand increases
Florida
- Supplies are limited statewide
- The Southern Florida season is winding down quickly
- Production in Northern Florida will start in two weeks
- Despite low volume, quality is very good
- Pricing is elevated across all colors and sizes; freeze damage has limited availability
