Markon First Crop (MFC) Potatoes are available from Idaho and Washington. New crop harvests are wrapping up in Colorado, Idaho, and Washington. Potatoes will begin loading from storage over the next 7-10 days. Markets are expected to remain elevated for the next several weeks following reduced yields in both Idaho and Washington.
Idaho
- New crop harvests will finish this week; suppliers will begin loading from storage next week
- Growers are reporting reduced yields by as much as 6-10% from 2025-26 following rain and smoke this summer that negatively impacted plant growth
- Large-size supplies (40- through 70-count stocks) remain limited and are commanding higher prices
- Quality is good; storage supplies will have a better skin set and less water content, leading to overall improved quality and shelf life after going through the sweat process
- Growers anticipate higher-than-normal prices going into the storage season, but markets should stabilize as the full supply picture is realized
Washington
- New crop harvests will finish in the next 7-10 days before loading from storage
- Growers are reporting below-average yields compared to the 2025-26 season due to temperature swings, rain, and smoke during the growing cycle that impacted plant growth
- Although there is a wide range of sizes, strong demand for 40- through 50-count potatoes is keeping markets elevated
- Quality is good; storage supplies will have a better skin set, lower moisture content, and overall longer shelf life compared to fresh run supplies
- Prices are steady, but elevated
Wisconsin
- New crop harvests should finish by late October; growers will ship from storage thereafter
- Suppliers report a good range of sizing and average to slightly above average yields this season following fewer weather events than were seen in 2025
- Quality is good; with the move to storage supplies, quality will further improve with better skin sets, lower moisture content, and longer shelf life after going through the sweat process
- Prices are steady
Colorado
- New crop harvests are expected to finish next week; suppliers will then load from storage
- Growers report a wide range of sizes and average yields
- Quality is good; with the move to storage supplies, quality will further improve with better skin sets, lower moisture content, and longer shelf life after going through the sweat process
- The market is stable
