Lime prices are rising amid decreased production and strong demand. Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Limes are available.
Mexico (into South Texas)
- Mexican production will cease through the weekend in observation of Holy Week; harvests will resume Monday, April 21
- Demand will further increase next week as the Cinco De Mayo pull begins
- Current crops are dominated by smaller 200- through 250-count sizes; larger 110- through 175-count sizes are limited and commanding higher prices
- Quality is good; blanching and oil spotting are occasional issues
- Expect markets to rise over the next two weeks as demand strengthens
Colombia
- MFC Limes are available for loading out of Florida
- Supplies of all sizes are sufficient; crops are dominated by 175- through 230-count fruit
- Prices are slightly higher with a 10% tariff now in effect on Colombian imports
- Quality is good; blanching and oil spotting are occasional issues
- Expect slightly higher prices over the next 7-10 days as demand rises
