Mexican lime prices are lower while Colombian prices are slightly higher with a 10% tariff. Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Limes are available.
Mexico (into South Texas)
- Mexican volume is steady
- Production will be lighter this week in observation of Holy Week; Markon recommends increased order lead time to avoid delays and packer label substitutions
- Demand will begin to increase in mid-April leading up to Cinco De Mayo
- Current crop is dominated by smaller 200- through 250-count sizes; larger 110- through 175-count sizes are limited
- Quality is good; blanching and oil spotting are occasional issues
- Expect steady to lower prices over the next 7-10 days
Colombia
- MFC Limes are available for loading out of Florida
- Supplies of all sizes are adequate; crop is dominated by 175- through 230-count size fruit
- Prices are slightly higher with a 10% tariff now in effect on Colombian imports
- Quality is good; blanching and oil spotting are occasional issues
- Expect slightly higher prices over the next 7-10 days
