Category 1 Hurricane Lorena, currently off the western side of the Baja Peninsula, is bringing heavy rain and sustained winds of 75mph to the region over the next 24 hours. Forecasters predict the storm will weaken over cooler Pacific waters and down grade to a tropical storm as it crosses the Peninsula on Friday.

• Hurricane Lorena is bringing heavy rainfall (5-15 inches) in Baja California Sur and Baja California which could bring flash floods and mudslides
• Growers will experience production delays and logistical disruptions as the storm passes through
• Baja Peninsula’s summer crops that may be impacted include asparagus, chiles, cucumbers, squash, and tomatoes which may be affected
• The residual effects of the storm are expected to bring significant moisture to Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas this upcoming weekend
