UPDATE: HURRICANE IDA

September 2, 2021

The remnants of Hurricane Ida traveled across the eastern United States this week showering the region with heavy rain and winds. Growing areas in Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, and New Jersey had their harvests curtailed due to heavy rain and muddy fields. Expect weather-related quality issues such as wind scarring and potential bruising.

Local farms in the hardest hit areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama received over 15 inches of rain earlier this week. The majority of these fall crops will be replanted and harvests will be pushed back to later in the season. Major damage was avoided in the key autumn growing regions of the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida.
