The green leaf, iceberg, and romaine seasons are nearly finished in Huron, Salinas, and Santa Maria, California. Limited harvesting in Oxnard, California will continue to supplement orders next week. Arizona/California desert production is underway, with additional growers beginning harvest next week.
- Markon First Crop (MFC) Premium Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine are sporadic; Markon Best Available (MBA) will be substituted, as needed due to low weights
- Rain is forecast in Huron, Oxnard, Salinas, and Santa Maria next week; however, harvests will be completed for the season prior to the rain events
- The Arizona/California desert season is underway; quality is favorable though weights are light and some initial lots are ribby and twisted
- The majority of processors are currently breaking down their value-added salad plants in preparation of the move from Salinas to Yuma; salad production will resume Sunday November 12 in the desert
- Iceberg markets are moderately elevated but expected to decrease as supplies increase and Thanksgiving holiday demand subsides; green leaf and romaine prices will remain fairly steady in the coming weeks
