- Markon First Crop (MFC) Premium Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine are available; Markon Best Available (MBA) is being substituted sporadically due to low weights
- Recent variable weather patterns in the Salinas Valley, including low temperatures, humid days, and rain, have resulted in uneven head development and overall lower field weights
- Iceberg and romaine weights are forecast to continue trending lower over the next two weeks
- Some iceberg fields have developed:
- Lightweight and undersized heads
- Dense heads with large frames
- Puffy heads with large frames
- Romaine quality issues persist in many lots; fog burn, internal burn, and fringe burn are reducing harvestable supplies
- Some iceberg fields have developed:
- Green leaf quality remains strong; sporadic burn issues are being avoided or trimmed at harvest points
- Expect slightly higher iceberg and romaine markets through May; green leaf will hold steady
