Green leaf, iceberg, and romaine prices continue to increase due to limited supplies.
- Markon First Crop (MFC) Premium Green Leaf and Romaine are available
- MFC Premium Iceberg is sporadic; Markon Best Available is being substituted as needed due to light weights
- Disease pressure coupled with cooler weather is reducing yields and limiting availability
- Rain events in Salinas this week will also curtail harvesting; Markon is working with suppliers to pack orders ahead of the rain to ensure coverage
- Trace amounts of rain, less than 0.10”, are forecast Wednesday and Thursday, October 20 and 21
- 0.25”-0.35” is anticipated Friday, October 22
- Rainfall Sunday, October 24 into Monday, October 25 is forecast to be 1-3”
- Quality is good: inconsistent texture, mildew pressure, and wind damage are being detected in some lots
