California green leaf, iceberg, and romaine supplies are not meeting current demand. Prices continue to climb.

• Markon First Crop Premium Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine are available; Markon Best Available is being substituted due to low case weights and quality concerns
  • Early September’s high temperatures have led to the development of internal and fringe burn, sun scald, growth cracks, seeder core, weak tip, and wind burn
  • Stripping off damaged leaves is lowering case weights and overall yields at the field level
  • Mildew and thrip/aphid damage are prevalent due to persistently high temperatures
  • The presence of Impatiens Necrotic Spot Virus (INSV) and Sclerotia has forced suppliers to cut ahead of their scheduled harvests to prevent plants from becoming infected
• Prices will keep rising over the next five to seven days; expect elevated markets through the Yuma transition
