UPDATE: GREEN LEAF, ICEBERG, AND ROMAINE

June 17, 2026

Iceberg prices are high, but stable; supplies have increased slightly. The green leaf, romaine, and romaine heart markets are easing as volume rises. Markon First Crop (MFC) Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine Lettuces are available in Salinas, California; Markon Best Available (MBA) is being substituted as needed.

Salinas and Santa Maria, California

Iceberg

  • Supplies remain tight; disease and insect pressure continue to impact availability
  • Volume will climb gradually as the month progresses
  • Prices are elevated, but should begin inching down over the next 10-14 days

Romaine and Green Leaf

  • Yields are higher
  • Markets will decrease through the month

Romaine Hearts

  • Lower pricing is expected as supplies increase
  • Markets remain historically elevated but are expected to inch down over the next several weeks

Quality

  • Quality ranges from fair to good
  • Weights are falling short of Markon First Crop specifications

Midwest/Michigan/Northeast

  • Canadian production has begun; volume is low but will increase steadily over the next several weeks
  • New Jersey, Michigan, and other regional districts are entering production through late June; meaningful volume is expected by mid-July
  • Expect regional programs across Canada and the Northeast to ramp up through the coming weeks, with peak production anticipated by mid-July
