UPDATE: FLORIDA STRAWBERRIES

February 2, 2026

Cooler weekend temperatures led shippers to turn on their water systems, creating an “igloo” effect around the fruit. As a result, some shippers are not harvesting today, while others are proceeding with limited harvest activity.

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) Strawberries are available
  • Cold weather is delaying growth and maturation
  • Supply levels have decreased due to low temperatures
  • Berries range from small-medium to medium in size (24 to 28 per 1-pound clamshell)
  • Quality is good; small size, light colored fruit, and misshapen berries have been reported
  • Markets will remain elevated while temperatures remain low
