UPDATE: FLORIDA STRAWBERRIES

January 16, 2026

Florida temperatures have dipped into the mid-30s in the Florida strawberry growing regions. Growers have watered fields to form ice rings around berries, a form of protection for the fruit. Minimal damage is expected, but these cooler temperatures will slow growth and ripening. Another freeze event is expected on Monday, January 19.

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) Strawberries are available
  • Overnight temperatures in Central and South Florida will be in the mid-30s to low 40s for the next two days
  • These abnormally low temperatures will slow maturity, but should not create quality or supply concerns
  • Markon will continue to monitor the weather and update if the forecast changes
