Early indications from South Texas growers are that most growing regions avoided any major damage this past weekend.
- Conditions remain stable with no major concerns; the coldest temperatures over the weekend stayed safely in the 40s
- There are no reports of cold temperatures in the primary citrus growing regions, ensuring that production remains on track without issues
- The only crop affected was the small domestic chili pepper supply, which was “zapped” by the chill; however, these were already at the end of their lifecycle and ready to be wrapped up
- Markon will continue to monitor and report on any long-term effects on recent cold fronts
