California chile pepper production is ramping up. Markon First Crop (MFC) Chile Peppers are available.
United States
- California’s Central Coast season will begin later this week, starting with Jalapenos; Poblano, Anaheim, and Habanero harvests will follow in a few weeks
- East Coast production has shifted from Georgia to North Carolina and New Jersey; markets are softer than those on the West Coast
- Texas volume has declined compared to yields during the spring season, but sporadic harvesting is underway
- The New Mexico Hatch chile season has started and will ramp up through this week until concluding in September
- Overall, the domestic chile market will inch down slightly as more product becomes available in California
Mexico
- Harvesting out of Western and Northern Mexico has begun and will run through early autumn
- While most other stocks are ample, anticipate a few weeks of limited Habanero supplies due to poor quality during transitions
- Jalapenos and tomatillos are the most plentiful and exhibiting solid quality
- Prices will remain steady through the summer
