UPDATE: CARROTS

February 27, 2023

West Coast jumbo carrot supplies are tightening as the crop begins transition from California’s San Joaquin Valley to California’s Imperial Valley. Availability will be limited for the next four weeks due to weather-related issues and reduced yields; commodity pack prices are high.

  • The San Joaquin Valley season is experiencing lower-than-average yields due to rainfall and cold temperatures; commodity packs have been impacted
  • The Imperial Valley season has just begun; abnormally cold weather in January is causing lower-than-average yields, sizing issues, and commodity packs to be impacted
  • Supplies are ample in Arizona and Mexico (crossing into South Texas); quality is excellent
  • Packer label may be substituted as needed
