UPDATE: CALIFORNIA STRAWBERRIES – RAIN

September 20, 2022

Both Salinas/Watsonville and Santa Maria received rain overnight through this morning. No harvesting is expected in either region today.

Santa Maria

  • The region received .25 – .50” of rain over the past 24 hours
  • Harvesting has been cancelled today, September 19, but expected to return September 20
  • Expect loading delays as rain has slowed down harvest
  • Packer label will be substituted as needed; plastic clamshells will be substituted for the corrugated packs
  • Supplies will tighten over the next two to three days but quickly recover for the back half of the week

Salinas/Watsonville

  • The region received .10 – .25” of rain over the past 24 hours
  • Harvesting has been cancelled today, September 19, but expected to return September 20
  • Expect loading delays as rain has slowed down harvest
  • Supplies will tighten over the next two to three days but quickly recover for the back half of the week
