UPDATE: CALIFORNIA STRAWBERRIES

No harvesting is expected in the Santa Maria growing region until Friday, September 23 due to the heavy rainfall received earlier in the week. Supplies will be extremely tight in all regions.

Santa Maria

  • The region received upwards of 2.00” of rain earlier this week
  • Harvesting has been canceled through Thursday, September 22; expect limited harvesting to return Friday, September 23
  • Packer label will be substituted as needed; plastic clamshells will be substituted for the corrugated packs
  • Supplies will continue to tighten over the next two to three days but recover next week

Salinas/Watsonville

  • The region received .75 – 1.35” of rain earlier this week
  • Harvesting has continued in the Salinas growing region; yields have been reduced
  • The Watsonville growing region will not harvest until September 24 due to heavy rainfall
  • Packer label will be substituted as needed; plastic clamshells will be substituted for the corrugated packs
  • Volume continues to diminish as the season moves past its peak
