UPDATE: CALIFORNIA STRAWBERRIES

Strawberry supplies are meeting current demand; markets remain elevated despite a slight decrease.

Salinas/Watsonville

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) Strawberries are available
  • Santa Maria’s strong early fall crop numbers will allow volume to sustain for a longer period in the Salinas/ Watsonville growing region, helping to alleviate pricing
  • High temperatures may impact fruit quality
  • Suppliers will begin transitioning to the Santa Maria growing region on September 19
  • Expect markets to slightly decrease but remain elevated

Santa Maria

  • MFC Strawberries are available
  • Fields are entering the tail end of the summer crop
  • The fall crop is expected to begin the week of September 5; low numbers are being reported currently, but the crop is expected to come on quickly and steadily increase over the next month
  • High temperatures may impact fruit quality
  • Expect markets to slightly decrease but remain elevated
