New crop green bell pepper harvests are underway in Georgia and the Imperial Valley, California; prices are low. The Mexican red bell pepper season is winding down. Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Green and Red Bell Peppers are available.

Green Bells

• California’s Imperial Valley harvests are in full production; all sizes are available
• Harvesting is winding down in Mexico
  • Quality is average quality
  • Small sizes are most abundant
• The Florida season has ended
• Growers started harvesting limited supplies in Georgia last week; volume will climb this week
• Expect low markets next week as Mexican growers wrap up production in older fields

Red Bells

• Mexican supplies are tightening
  • The season will wind down over the next three weeks
  • Quality is average; over-ripeness is a concern due to older plants
• California’s Imperial Valley is expected to start limited harvests on May 26
• Canadian greenhouse production is steady; rain and cooler weather are forecast and may slow production
• Expect higher markets over the next two weeks
