UPDATE: AVOCADOS SUPPLIES

June 19, 2023

Avocado supplies are extremely limited as Mexico’s crop is wrapping up early this year. The California and Peruvian seasons are underway but volume is not sufficient to support the US avocado demand over the next three weeks.

Mexico

  • Mexico’s growing season is wrapping up earlier than anticipated this year
  • The incoming summer crop is not meeting maturity standards due to dry conditions, delaying harvests until early July
  • Fruit will be extremely limited over the next three to four weeks
  • The industry is in a demand-exceeds-supply situation
  • Expect to make size and grade substitutions to help fill orders

California/Peru

  • Stocks will tighten as both regions fill shortages from Mexico
  • Quality is good; all sizes are extremely limited
  • The industry is in a demand-exceeds-supply situation
  • Expect to make size and grade substitutions to help fill orders
