- Morning temperatures have dipped into the low to upper 30°s over the past 3 days
- Icy conditions will continue through at least Saturday, December 16
- Immediate affects of lettuce ice include:
- Delayed harvesting and loading delays
- Dehydration
- Slowed plant growth
- Markon inspectors will be monitoring supplies for more long-term effects in the coming days, such as:
- Epidermal blistering and peeling
- Potential supply shortages
- Reduced case weights
- Yellowing leaves in lettuces and tender leaf items such as arugula
