The Salinas and Santa Maria, California seasons are winding down quickly; the grower-shipper community has begun their transition to Huron, California and the Arizona/California desert growing regions.

Current quality and case weight challenges:

• Harvesting fields ahead of schedule due to scarcity of mature plants
• Uneven head size
• Fluctuating density
• Disease pressure
• Low case weights

We are anticipating these quality and case weight challenges to persist through mid-November, when growers in the Arizona/California desert growing region harvest their first few fields.

Markon inspectors are working with suppliers to pack the highest quality product with the heaviest weights available.
