FROM THE FIELDS: WEST COAST WEATHER UPDATE

May 2, 2023

A low-pressure system currently passing over the West Coast is bringing below normal temperatures and scattered showers to the Oxnard, Salinas and Santa Maria Valleys through Thursday morning, May 4. Rainfall totals are expected to range from ¼”-¾” and may cause light-to moderate production and loading delays due to muddy field conditions.

Growers have packed Markon orders ahead in anticipation of the rain and will take measures to keep boxes as clean and dry as possible. Markon inspectors will be monitoring weather and quality conditions of commodity and value-added lettuce items closely following the rain and will update further as needed.
