FROM THE FIELDS: WEST COAST RAIN

October 14, 2025

California’s Salinas & Santa Maria Valleys began receiving rainfall yesterday afternoon that continued into the night. Anywhere between .70” – 1” of rain was recorded and another .25” – .40” may be received today.

Growers have been packing ahead in anticipation of the storm to make sure Markon orders were covered in full. Most lettuce/leaf shippers will not be harvesting today due to the muddy conditions and continued showers.

Markon inspectors will be evaluating and updating further on field conditions, as well as the weather’s impacts on quality and shelf life for all major row crop vegetables in these regions.
