Salinas Valley received light rainfall early this morning with more rain anticipated for this afternoon with forecast rainfall totals to reach upwards of 1.0” by Friday, 4/22.

Harvesting crews are using liners to protect boxes from mud and rain, most suppliers have packed ahead of rain event to ensure all orders are covered.

This rain event could potentially create harvesting challenges such as:

• Delayed harvesting and production
• Delayed receiving/shipping times
• Wet and muddy field conditions

Markon inspectors will be monitoring lettuce row crops and tender leaf items closely for quality challenges that may unfold after rain event.
