Overnight rain that is expected to continue throughout the day and into Saturday, November 22, has caused most growers to delay or cancel harvesting operations in the Arizona/California desert growing region. Anywhere from .40” – 1.25” may be recorded in this third storm to impact the area in the last week.
Muddy, saturated fields will continue to make production difficult into early next week, and rain-related quality and shelf-life challenges will increase in items such as broccoli, lettuces, and tender leaf items.
Markon inspectors will continue to monitor conditions and supply levels. Look for further updates in the days ahead.
