The Arizona/California desert growing regions received some rainfall over the weekend, as remnants of Tropical Storm, Priscilla, which was downgraded from a hurricane, moved up through the Baja Peninsula. Fortunately, rain totals were far less than originally anticipated. Areas in and around Yuma received anywhere from .17” to .59”, whereas most areas in the Imperial Valley only received trace amounts.
By Saturday, October 11, conditions were clearing up, and fields were starting to dry out, with no more rain in the current forecast. Markon inspectors will continue to monitor desert region weather conditions as the annual transition from California’s Salinas Valley to the desert takes place over the next few weeks.
