FROM THE FIELDS: DESERT GROWING REGION WEATHER UPDATE

January 9, 2026

A cold front with wind gusts of up to 25 mph is currently passing through the Arizona/California desert growing region. Forecasts are calling for winds to subside over the weekend, resulting in morning temperatures dipping into the 30s, potentially causing lettuce ice to form over the weekend.

No immediate quality challenges are anticipated to result from the cold front. A warming trend is forecast with temperatures reaching the low 80s by Tuesday, January 12.

Markon inspectors will continue to monitor conditions and will update further as needed.
