FROM THE FIELDS: ARIZONA & CALIFORNIA DESERT RAIN

November 12, 2025

A low-pressure system is forecast to move into the desert growing region of Arizona and California on Friday, November 14, with showers expected through Sunday morning. The estimated totals could reach upwards of 1”-1.5”, which will result in harvest cancellations and loading delays on Monday, November 17 and Tuesday, November 18. Growers/suppliers are currently packing orders ahead of the rain to ensure all orders are covered.

This weather event is a concern for processors making their move from Salinas, California to Yuma, Arizona this weekend. An additional rain event is forecast for the desert region on Tuesday, November 18, which could linger through Thursday, November 20. Inspectors will have a better feel for next week’s rain event as the weekend nears, to form a more accurate outlook for supply and quality of desert row crop items.

Markon inspectors will continue to monitor conditions and update further as needed.
