Although the lime market is currently steady, it’s expected to climb as small sizes are decreasing and quality challenges are increasing. Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Limes are available.
Mexico (into South Texas)
- Rain has continued to fall nearly daily in the key Mexican growing region
- Wet weather has increased lime size and reduced supplies of smaller sizes (230- and 250-count fruit)
- Moisture-related quality issues such as skin breakdown and oil spotting are becoming more common
- Overall prices will remain steady through this week but will inch up into mid-August as volume slowly declines
Colombia
- Quality is very good
- Small sizes are more readily available than in Mexico
- The market is trending higher than Mexican limes
Hawaii
- The industry is still waiting on regulatory approval to begin shipping into the USA
- Quality has been solid despite some discoloration
- Prices are comparable to Colombian market
