Florida growers are still facing significant damage from the early February freeze, and additional severe weather—including near-freezing morning temperatures forecast for Central and South Florida on Tuesday, February 24, and Wednesday, February 25—is expected to further disrupt production. These back-to-back cold events will severely limit supplies, pushing already elevated markets even higher over the next four to six weeks.
Central/Western Florida
- The Tampa region is forecast to see near-freezing temperatures Monday and Tuesday morning, with daytime highs in the upper 50s
- Crops growing in this part of the state include strawberries, cabbage, and broccoli
Southern Florida
- Immokalee, Ft. Pierce, Belle Glade, and LaBelle are forecast to see near-freezing temperatures Monday and Tuesday mornings, with daytime highs reaching the mid‑60s
