A major winter storm will impact a significant portion of the U.S. this weekend from New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma today, January 23 before moving into the Northeast region by Monday, January 26.
- New Mexico
- Expected to get 5-10 inches of snow with minimal ice accumulation
- Texas
- North Texas is expected to get 4-8 inches of snow
- Dallas area forecast calls for two to six inches of snow
- West and South Texas set to receive one to three inches of snow
- Parts of Texas expecting to see ¼ to ¾ inches of ice accumulation
- Oklahoma/Arkansas
- Forecast shows four to eight inches of snow and up to ¾ inches of ice
- Tennessee
- The Tennessee Valley and central/south regions of Tennessee will experience up to 12 inches of snow and ¾ inches of ice
- Midwest
- The Ohio Valley is expected to receive 6-12 inches of snow and minimal ice accumulation
- Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula are expected to receive 6-14 inches of snow
- Georgia/North Carolina
- North Georgia will experience up to an inch of ice with one to two inches of snow
- Parts of North Carolina could see snow/ice accumulation up to 6 inches
- Northeast
- Portions of the Northeast are expected to receive over 12 inches of snow Sunday, January 25
- Some areas in the Northeast will see snowfall reaching 24 inches
- Expect transportation challenges, shipment delays, and late deliveries with hazardous and icy road conditions
