Tomato supplies are meeting demand with winter growing transitions occurring in both Florida and Mexico. Markon First Crop (MFC) Tomatoes are available.
Rounds
- Florida’s Palmetto/Ruskin region is in full production; quality is good
- Immokalee harvest is increasing
- The Homestead region is expected to start in late December/early January
- Mexico’s Baja region has moderate supply and fair quality as they wind down over the next two weeks
- Central Mexico (crossing into South Texas) has light volume with good quality
- The Sinaloa season in Western Mexico has started with light volume, full volume is expected in early January
- Expect slightly higher markets over the next two weeks; a smooth transition is anticipated with optimal Mexico weather forecasted
Romas
- Florida is harvesting high volume across several regions
- Growers in Baja and Central Mexico have light/moderate supply as they wind down their main season this month
- Mexico’s Sinaloa region has started with light volume
- 90F weather is anticipated next week which will help ripen fruit
- Expect light volume until early January
- Expect slightly higher markets over the next few weeks
Grape & Cherry Varieties
- Stocks are plentiful out of Central Florida
- Quality is great
- Yields are slightly lower due to cooler temperatures earlier this week
- The Baja and Central Mexico regions are slowing down
- The Western Mexico season (crossing into Nogales) has started with nice quality
- Expect slightly lower markets next week
