Freezing temperatures have moved into the Southeast, impacting several crops across the region.
- South Georgia and the Florida Panhandle were affected by the abnormally low temperatures
- Bell peppers, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, and green beans were damaged by the freeze
- Growers will monitor fields and plant health over the coming days and report estimated losses
- Expecting rising prices due to limited supplies out of Georgia
- New crops in South and Central Florida have been increasing; however, cooler weather will slow maturity
- Strawberry maturity will slow, but no major concerns are expected
- Citrus was not affected by the low temperatures
- The full extent of damage won’t be known until growers have time to assess fields
