California Citrus

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials Lemons and Oranges are sporadic due to rain; packer label will be substituted as needed
  • Orange supplies are extremely limited, especially 88-count and smaller sizes; flexibility in size and grade may be needed for order coverage
  • Lead-time is encouraged to ensure coverage
  • Prices will remain elevated

Idaho Potatoes

  • MFC Idaho Burbank Potatoes are available
  • Quality is good: pressure bruising and hollow heart will be seen sporadically throughout the rest of the season
  • Size is dominated by 80- to 100-count potatoes; 40- to 70-count sizes remain tight
  • Prices will increase as the storage season progresses, starting with large sizes


  • MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions are readily available in the Northwest
  • Texas-grown MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions will enter the market the week of March 26
  • MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions from Utah will begin to wind down in mid-April
  • MFC Red, White, and Yellow Onions will become available from California and New Mexico in April and May, respectively


Oxnard and Santa Maria, California

  • MFC Strawberries are sporadic due to rain; Markon Best Available (MBA) and packer label are being substituted when necessary
  • Quality is good: rain-related defects might include soft texture and bruising
  • Supplies are limited
  • The market is steady

Mexico (into South Texas)

  • MFC Strawberries are unavailable; MBA and packer label are being substituted
  • Quality is average: light bruising is an occasional problem
  • Limited quantities are being shipped into South Texas; most suppliers have ended production for the season
  • Prices are stable


  • MBA Strawberries are available; packer label is being substituted when necessary
  • Quality is good: bruising and scarring may be present in finished packs
  • Supplies are limited; the season will wind down later next week
  • The market is level

Watsonville, California

  • Harvesting has begun in a very limited way
  • Rain has hindered production
  • Supplies will start ramping up in early April
