FOOD SAFETY UPDATE: North Bay Produce Recalls Apples Due to Listeria

This update does not apply to any Markon First Crop, Ready-Set-Serve, or Markon Essentials products.

North Bay Produce, Inc. of Traverse City, Michigan is recalling fresh apples because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was initiated as a result of a finished product test that indicated the presence of the organism. Recalled product shipped between October 16th, 2019 and October 21st, 2019 from one North Bay facility to wholesalers, retailers and brokers in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.

The recalled apples were sold under the Great Lakes and North Bay Produce Pure Michigan brand as well as unbranded in clear plastic tote bags, white paper tote bags, and individually from retailers display trays. Recalled varieties include McIntosh, Honeycrisp, Jonathan, Fuji, Jonamac and Red Delicious apples.

No Markon orders are affected by this recall, please remember to check for any purchases outside Markon.

North Bay is not aware of any illnesses linked by health officials to this recall.
