“I remember vividly as a kid growing up in Pico Rivera that my elementary school had a giant mulberry tree in the middle of the playground. The kids would pick them to eat and chuck them at each for fun. I’ll never forget the flavor, the texture, the sweetness, and the juiciness of those berries. Every time I eat mulberries, the flavor takes me back to that time of playing baseball, tag, eating free lunches in the summer, and being in elementary school. I have such fond memories from that time of my life, so whenever I eat those berries, it kind of chokes me up in a good way.”
“As a young child, my grandmother had a garden in our backyard and while she was cooking, she would ask me to go pick jalapenos, tomatoes, and squash. That garden made a big impression on me and my life. I believe that is where my passion for food and fellowship developed. On Sundays our family would gather at my grandparents’ home to eat and laugh. I believe that no matter what happens in life there is no better feeling than gathering around the dinner table with your family and friends.”
