“I was born in Monterey and grew up in Seaside, California, which is only 14 miles away from Salinas where I heard many of the country’s vegetables were grown. My father came to the United States from Guam back in the late 1960s, and his first job was harvesting produce in Salinas at a young age. He met my mother at Seaside High School and long story short—here I am!
Back in 2001, my wife heard about an open position at Markon. To be honest, at that time I didn’t even know a tomato was a fruit, but I jumped in head first after Mark Shaw gave me an opportunity as an entry level coordinator in the sales office. What a ride it has been—16 years later, here I am as the Customer Service Director. The ever-changing challenges of shipping fresh produce across the U.S. and Canada have me hooked!”
“As a young child, my grandmother had a garden in our backyard and while she was cooking, she would ask me to go pick jalapenos, tomatoes, and squash. That garden made a big impression on me and my life. I believe that is where my passion for food and fellowship developed. On Sundays our family would gather at my grandparents’ home to eat and laugh. I believe that no matter what happens in life there is no better feeling than gathering around the dinner table with your family and friends.”
