“One of my favorite childhood memories is picking and eating vegetables from my grandparent’s garden. I remember snipping green beans in the living room. To this day, I still follow my grandmother’s advice and fry up new potatoes in bacon grease. And there’s absolutely nothing better than a summer tomato. It’s amazing how one bite can take you back to another place and time. As a child, I didn’t realize that these tastes and moments would become part of my heritage. I’ve worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years as a server, prep cook, catering manager, and foodservice director. What a delicious journey it’s been!”
“As a young child, my grandmother had a garden in our backyard and while she was cooking, she would ask me to go pick jalapenos, tomatoes, and squash. That garden made a big impression on me and my life. I believe that is where my passion for food and fellowship developed. On Sundays our family would gather at my grandparents’ home to eat and laugh. I believe that no matter what happens in life there is no better feeling than gathering around the dinner table with your family and friends.”
