2019 Markon Summer Intern

“My passion for agriculture started in Northern California, where I grew up surrounded by livestock animals and took part in the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Although I knew I had a strong love for agriculture and that my career would be in the industry, the produce side was a foreign world to me. It wasn’t until the summer of 2018, before going into my third year of college, that I had the opportunity to experience the produce world during my first internship at Driscoll’s. I quickly fell in love with this side of the business: the area and the people that make the “Farm to Fork” saying actually happen. This led me to come back to the Salinas Valley to intern at Markon. Although only working here for a summer, Markon has confirmed my love for produce and the people behind it all.”
“As a young child, my grandmother had a garden in our backyard and while she was cooking, she would ask me to go pick jalapenos, tomatoes, and squash. That garden made a big impression on me and my life. I believe that is where my passion for food and fellowship developed. On Sundays our family would gather at my grandparents’ home to eat and laugh. I believe that no matter what happens in life there is no better feeling than gathering around the dinner table with your family and friends.”
