“As the eldest growing up in a low-income family with a single mother, I was in charge of a lot of meals with not much to work with, especially fresh produce. It inspired me in my culinary career. I learned at a young age that food fixes all…bad days, celebrations, heartaches, birthdays, anniversaries…you name it…are all better with food. As a mother of a creative child, we work together to create fun and nutritional meals that push the limits and bring us together. We learn from each other with every cooking experience. I am confident that I have taught her the power of fresh fruits, vegetables, and quality ingredients—nothing could make me prouder as a chef mom.”
“As a young child, my grandmother had a garden in our backyard and while she was cooking, she would ask me to go pick jalapenos, tomatoes, and squash. That garden made a big impression on me and my life. I believe that is where my passion for food and fellowship developed. On Sundays our family would gather at my grandparents’ home to eat and laugh. I believe that no matter what happens in life there is no better feeling than gathering around the dinner table with your family and friends.”
