Before working in the foodservice industry, I used to be a very picky eater. I come from a real meat-and-potatoes family, heavy on the meat. After working at Reinhart, I started to try and enjoy so many different types of food—I learned to love and appreciate produce as the center of the plate, not just potatoes as the occasional side. I also found fresh fruit and vegetables influencing my art. I explored a leafy greens oil painting series, that led to me winning juried art show awards, having a solo art show in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and having my artwork featured on Reinhart’s produce issue of Restaurant Inc. Exciting things come from produce!
