"I remember being about eight or nine years old and going to the local Michigan Farmers’ Market with my Aunt Bessie. She would walk the aisles, pick up produce, touch it, smell it, and talk to me about what was in season and what looked like it was worth buying. I can never forget the summer peaches. The sweet aroma was intoxicating. She would cut them into thin slices and place them in this blue antique bowl she loved. They tasted so good I always thought she sprinkled them with sugar. It wasn’t until I was adult that I realized she just knew how to pick the best ones. That was the summer I fell in love with peaches.”
